RON DAVIS - Building on Ron Davis’ Toronto based full-orchestral band SymphRONica, this 9-piece 'pocket' arrangement of the band brings fresh accessible jazz/pop/classical/world/klezmer experiences in new music to audiences across Canada and the world. Symphronica is Ron's dream vision of where music worlds collide to create a true mashup of new and original music open to the popular ear and reaching music lovers of multiple genres. This special edition features Ron Davis (piano), Kevin Barrett (guitar), Aline Homzy (violin), Alastair "Killie" Savage (violin), Seonaid Aitken (viola), Clea Friend (cello), Emma Smith (bass), Alyn Cosker (druims), and special guest Chris Grieve (trombone)

FAIRFOLLIES - Inspired by the sounds and spirit of Scottish indie, folk and roots, FairFollies released their debut EP on 9 February 2018. Drawing from a diverse range of musical ventures, FairFollies brings together songwriters and musicians from across Scotland to create an open and atmospheric sound, with an eclectic blend of Scottish indie and folk.

SPARE SNARE - Spare Snare is a lo-fi band from Dundee, Scotland. Founded in the early 90s, the band have released 13 albums to date, released on their own Chute Records, or licensed to another label. They have also recorded four John Peel Sessions. In the 1995 John Peel Festive 50, the band were number 32 with "Bugs". Spare Snare have been cited as an influence on acts such as Snow Patrol and the Fence Collective. Spare Snare were also voted as the 46th best Scottish band of all time.

King Ayisoba & Guests - Matinee gig

The inimitable King Ayisoba comes to Leith Depot for a sublime Sunday afternoon of Ghanian Kologo music with help from Ayuune Sule and Depot-fave Howie Reeve!

KING AYISOBA - King Ayisoba was born in 1974 in Bongo Soe, Bongo area, Upper East Region, Ghana, near Bolgatanga. He grew up in a small village and as a boy he always had his kologo with him whenever he took the family sheep and cattle out to graze. He played at markets, local bars and funerals until he was old enough to leave the region and try his songs on the people in big cities like Kumasi and Accra. In 2015 King Ayisoba won for the second time in his career the Ghana Music Award for best traditional song for the song “Mbhee” from the Wicked Leaders album. In March 2016 King Ayisoba went back on tour promoting a new compilation he put together called “This is Kologo Power!”, and in the summer he took his hypnotic Kologo grooves all across Europe, taking in several festivals along the way. His latest album, called “1000 Can Die” is out now.

OVERLAPS - is an evening of freely improvised music. All improvising musicians with an ear for the experimental are encouraged to participate. Simply turn up with your instruments and put your name on the list. Participants will be put into small groups and performances will take place over the course of the night. Non participating audience members are also encouraged to attend! House guitar and bass amps are provided. Drummers are required to bring breakables, kick pedal, clutch.

Baron Salmon

BARON SALMON - Alt Folk songwriter Baron Salmon is taking to Leith Depot with his new band to perform is third EP "Muppets and Marionettes". Produced by "Idlewild" guitarist Rod Jones, the new release represents a huge leap forward for the songwriter incorporating full band arrangements, with tight drum and bass grooves with Sweeping string sections along side his fingerpicked guitar and heartfelt vocals. The set will feature old and new tunes with the full band treatment along with some solo tunes.

Lunafruit

LUNAFRUIT - is a dynamic soul-pop trio from London. The project is the brainchild of Elliot Wenman, Archie Henderson and Sophie Grant, three 24-year-olds who met whilst working as session musicians at a studio in South London, and have continued writing together ever since. They introduced their project with their playful debut ‘Superhero’ in April 2018, to be followed by the more introspective summer groove ‘Rise’ in June 2018. Now they present their project to audiences around the UK in a string of tour dates.
