Friday 16th

Afternoon jazz Ron Davis SmallphRONica
DOORS 14:00 untill 16:00// £10 ADV (Get Tickets here)

Canadian pianist RON DAVIS - returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with SymphRONica, playing a programme that showcases world music melodies played with jazz creativity and classical elan by an eight-piece band comprising jazz quartet and string quartet. With his first SymphRONica concert in Toronto, Ron Davis brought a jazz group into the heart of a symphony orchestra. This wasn’t jazz with orchestral accompaniment or jazzed-up classical music but tuneful, inventive music with big grooves and melodies that the audience went away humming. Now condensed into a mobile, mellifluous octet, SymphRONica captures original compositions, newly reinvigorated jazz standards and folksong melodies from Eastern Europe with energy, pizzazz and grooves that explore new musical realms across a journey of enjoyment. It’s rich, it’s substantial and above all it’s entertaining, presented with wit, wisdom and irreverence by the classically trained jazz adventurer Davis.

Future Sounds presents The Tesla Coils, GRAVELLE, Dr Salad and Regretta Garbo
DOORS 19:30 // £5 ADV Get Tickets

REGRETTA GARBO - are a theatrically shambolic 3 piece likened to the sonic equivalent of what it must be like to airlift a panda from precariously thin ice... New post-prog garage rock band. Theatrical, with edged riffs, they promise to noise you out and shine you on

GRAVELLE - who we are reliably informed have a name “pronounced like the dirt”, are an indie/electronic/experimental/post-punk band from Livingston. The band comprises the dual instrumental and vocal talents of Monique Maurel and Kyle McNaughton, who create a gorgeous mixture of pounding electronic drums, punk guitars and dance grooves.

THE TESLA COILS - Hailing from the lunatic fringes of Dunbar, the band play off-kilter backwaters garage-rock. Slammin' together the worst offcuts of punk, metal, country, folk and spoken-word, The Tesla Coils have brought their off-colour sci-fi mania to such beautiful locations as Dunbar Harbour and Kim Jong Un's living room. Their songs deliver brutal observations on topics including alien junkies, shallow graves and Molluscs

DR SALAD - Four loys, two guitars one bass one kit made out of drums and also three voices from our mouths. A selection of different sheeeat . All up on that Goonbox Hype. The Vehicle is on the road, Ride wit us. Doug Hall, Scott Rough, Craig Huggan, Gavin Middlemiss
