The Renovations / Joy&Struggle / Smitten
DOORS 19:30 // £5 OTD

FYI the cream of the cream from our All-in-3 pieces local bands, all based in Edinburgh (or Leith): We're planning a very promising night of minimalist smoky pop, Ethereal Gothic Folk-Rock (in Just Intonation) and 90's "female" grunge rock !!! WATA colorful combination made of our original materials (or renovated covers) from our 3 own imaginations

THE RENOVATIONS - The band was created very recently in October 2019... Why? Coming back from a Thailand retreat, the bass player and vocalist Cha Pulse had first got a gig, thanks to her friend and amazing blues singer Nicole, but she needed a little more musicians to built a set made of rock songs. Gian the drummer and Cha had an old band project and met on a rainy day in Edinburgh.

JOY & STRUGGLE - began on Halloween 2016 when Alasdair Kampff heard Niamh Joyce singing two folk songs, 'Black is the Colour' and 'Queen of Hearts' at Henry's Cellar Bar in Edinburgh. Resolving to create a musical arrangement that would do justice to Niamh's unique and powerful voice, Alasdair brought to the table his full-range electric guitar, tuned to pure Just Intonation and fed through a battery of effects, creating his own wall of sound. Accomplished jazz-funk drummer Alex Palmer joined to enable greater rhythmic power and improvisational left-turns, and our repertoire has grown to encompass Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Neil Young,

Also supporting will be SMITTEN- Since its formation in 2016, Smitten has grown from a blues inspired indie rock duo to a three piece that combines soulful pop ballad vocals from Nicole Smit, intensely garage guitar playing from Charlie Wild and irresistibly groovy drumming from Alex Palmer. The Edinburgh based band has mesmerised a host of loyal followers with their original music in their hometown as well as throughout the rest of UK and Europe.
