HER CROOKED HEART - Rachel is a musically gifted singer, songwriter, producer and arranger who put out a few records under her own name - including Ghost Of A Gardener, which is exceptional - before starting Her Crooked Heart. This year, HCH release their debut full length record, To Love To Leave To Live, which is at once raw and heartbreaking, but at its core true and optimistic and relatable and brilliant. The record itself includes musicians who've collaborated with folks like Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, Alabama Shakes, and Paul Simon.

LOU MCLEAN - is a DIY indie-pop songwriter who has already brilliantly rhapsodised the streets of Leith on her Good Morning Easter Road EP.

BROTHERS GILLESPIE - Bardic troubadours of the Northern wilds with a sound driven by the lyrical interplay of guitar and fiddle, and two voices instinctively weaving harmonies. The Brothers are devoted to honoring and if possible contributing to the long lineage and tradition of mystically minded troubadours.

Perry likes writing songs about slimy snails, moths and other nightly creatures, sometimes in new trousers and trainers

RESOUND A SILENT - rescores classic films that either had no original music, or the original music has been lost. A screening of the 1927 Hitchcock classic horror starring Ivor Novello with live music from Dave Abbott. Cast against type in the adaptation of Marie Belloc Lowndes' novel of the same name, Ivor Novello was known as a musician and family entertainer but was cast as a mysterious man in the centre of a murderous plot. This controversial casting almost lead to the end of Hitchcock's career before it even began.



KEIINO

KEIINO - is a Norwegian supergroup consisting of Sámi rapper Fred Buljo, and Norwegian singers Alexandra Rotan and Tom Hugo. The group was created in late 2018 in preparation for the participation in Melodi Grand Prix 2019. As a result of winning Melodi Grand Prix 2019, the group represtented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Spirit in the Sky”.

THE REEL GIRL FILM CLUB - presents a screening of satirical teen romantic comedy But I’m A Cheerleader. Director Jamie Babbit's debut feature film follows all-American high school cheerleader, Megan (Natasha Lyonne) who is sent to a conversion therapy camp when her parents suspect her to be a lesbian. There she meets and falls in love with the rebellious Graham (Clea DuVall) and together they begin to challenge the camp's doctrine. HEALY - Martha mixes old-time country with modern influences. Her new Nashville-recorded album "Keep The Flame Alight" is out now

AL SHIELDS - Al Shields is an Edinburgh-based songwriter, with influences rooted in old-time country, folk and blues music.

CALLUM MACKINNON - Leith-based songwriter gone from punk to black metal to 50s rock 'n' roll and ended up here. Callum joined Edinburgh folk/Americana band Under The Dogwood Tree in 2014 to help them perform live, slowly started writing with them and got the bug for it. He started writing solo material seriously in 2017 and launched his debut E.P. out in 2018.

POVERTY BAR - A Northern European pop group. Fronted by Scottish ex-pat Mike Lennie (formerly of Dundee ecossemo champs Pensioner), latest album Vive La Bagatelle fuses Lennie's unmistakably Scottish baritone to ten well-crafted indie gems

PILOTCAN - Formed in the mid 90s, Pilotcan released two singles on the Mogwai-affiliated Rock Action label, a further three albums over the next decade, as well as a session for John Peel. Newest LP "Bats Fly Out From Under The Bridge" was written mainly in Austin, Texas but recorded in Scotland at Chem 19 Studios. Packed with densely layered guitars and reverbed-up piano and lap-steel, flitting between brooding heavy riffage and reflective, calmer passages.

HARRY HARRIS - "Earlier this year I went into the studio to make a new record, called I FEEL DRUNK ALL THE TIME. It's out now, and I love it. I got to play with some amazing musicians on this album to try and bring these songs to life, and make them sound like how they sounded in my head. I think we did that. To celebrate, we're going to do it again, live. We'll play the record, I'll tell you what some of the songs are about, maybe we'll revisit some older stuff too, it'll be wild. Opening up is Glasgow's excellent MAN OF THE MINCH -, who also played violin on the record. They're in the studio working on some great new music now too. "

SCOTT CANDLISH - Singer songwriter Scott Candlish has just launched his third EP, 'A Little While, a Bit of Time' while temporarily residing in the city of Edinburgh for the last two years. After making the big move from his hometown of Melbourne to Scotland, the singer songwriter has been refining his alt-folk style with regular shows in the vibrant UK city. Earlier this year Candlish first went into the studio to make the record after writing and collaborating with local musicians. While experimenting with new sounds, Candlish continues writing with a favoured blend of indie folk, fingerstyle and alternative rock that can now be heard in the new EP. The songs reflect upon both the challenges and rewards established in his time away from home with an output lending influence from favourites Bon Iver, Angus and Julia Stone and Ben Howard.

Featuring HELEN MCCOOKERY BOOK -, SCREAMIN WHISPER - are a Scottish based act formed around songwriter Brian Hughes. Since forming in 2014, Screamin' Whisper have focused both their sound and their stagecraft, and can be seen gigging with a full band or singer songwriter sets. AILSA AND THE SEAHORSES - ​Since emerging onto the Scottish music scene, Ailsa McEwan has captivated audiences with her distinct brand of ethereal indie. Performing under the name Ailsa and the Seahorses, she is known for her independent approach and songs characterised by dreamy guitar chords and hypnotic melodies. Her unique sound, both tranquil and haunting, is somewhere between the atmospherics of Mazzy Star and singer-songwriter tradition of Suzanne Vega and Rickie Lee Jones. Her lyrics – a combination of stream of consciousness and narrative – are delivered by her warm, smoky vocal, described by one fan as sounding like “liquid gold”. Growing up however, it was Ailsa’s belief that she did not possess vocal talents that stopped her from pursuing a musical path initially.
