BALTER - are a contemporary folk quartet based in Newcastle. They will be playing material from their newly released EP, Strictly Chicken amongst other tunes and songs. Come for craic and great music! Support from mandolin and fiddle duo Jon Doran and Janice Burns.

The Folk Night come back for a monthly night. For this occasion, the well travelled bard Andrew Mill will deliver his beautiful songs to us. We'll also be blessed with a a couple of talented musicians hailing from northern parts (via Glasgow) - Josie and Pete. Floored and The Noisefloor are delighted to present a special, one-off evening of contemporary Chilean musical talent. Featuring MIKA MARTINI, SILVIO PAREDES, CO(N)DE ZERO, JOSE ROJAS

SILVIO PAREDES -[LIVE / CHILE / Poptronic] Silvio Paredes studied fine arts in the 80es and was an integral part of the concept art movement in his native Chile. His musical trajectory has to a large degree been shaped by his desire to transfer aspects of this art-form into his musical work, his bands and his releases. Self-taught, Silvio is a reference point on electric bass and the Chapman Stick not only in his home country, but in all of Latin America. In particular the Stick has been his main instrument since he started playing and he combines it with an array of electronic devices.

MIKA MARTINI - [LIVE / CHILE / Space Electronica Audiovisual Concert] With studies in architecture and a degre in design from the Catholic University of Chile, Hugo Espinosa Chellew under his aliases Mika Martini and Frank Benkho, has developed his artistic abilities in areas such as 3-D animation, video clips, traditional graphic design, multimedia design, web design and electronic music. Under the alias of Mika Martini, Espinosa initiated a musical solo project at the beginning of 2004 with the firm objective of rescuing and mixing sounds from the Chilean ethnic background with abstract elements, linked to the techniques of "microsampling" and the "minimal" current. He thus developed a parallel work more linked to experimental music and electronic improvisation.

CO(N)DE ZERO - [LIVE / CHILE / Experimental Post-Techno] Co(n)de Zero is is the Live coding project of Alejandro Albornoz, Chilean composer based in Sheffield. Alejandro compose different types of electronic music, covering electroacoustic (acousmatic and live electronics), techno, idm or post-techno and sort of noise experimental. Within 'co(n)de Zero' the styles starts in techno and minimal to look for deconstruct and overlap rhythms and textures with the aim to create a kind of minimal-baroque

JOSE ROJAS - [LIVE / CHILE / Experimental Electronic] Musician and Researcher with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and Musicology. Electronic and Electroacoustic musician. Fifteen years of experience composing for contemporary dance companies and independent choreographers. Appeared at the Chilean XII International Electroacoustic ‘Ai-Maako’ Music Festival. Live musical performances include ‘Fricciones Sound Practices Meeting’ and various dance festivals in Chile, Argentina and Brazil, along with live sessions in the U.K.



June will see The Sunshine Delay taking to the Americana Backroom Sessions stage at the Leith Depot for the first time. The Edinburgh 4-piece have been at the forefront of the Scottish alt. country seen since 2001 so expect tight performances and top tunes from this class act. In support, Americana Backroom Sessions regulars Under The Dogwood Tree are back so get along early to catch another set from them.

THE SUNSHINE DELAY -Since 2001, The Sunshine Delay have been winning admirers throughout the UK and the USA for their “mellifluous melodies and country harmonies resting on power pop” Get Ready to Rock, and a style that blends the best elements of country, roots and power pop.

UNDER THE DOGWOOD TREE -Under The Dogwood Tree are an original Americana/folk act from Edinburgh and the Lothians consisting of Alison Lyles, William Ancell, Callum MacKinnon, Catherine Gillespie, George Stott and Tony Irvine. Alison and William penned the band's debut album which was released in 2014 and produced and recorded in Scotland at various locations across the Lothians and Lanarkshire. The band are currently working on a variety of new tracks which will soon feature on their follow up album
