Leith Depot is proud to present the first in a series of monthly live events showcasing and celebrating new music. And we're off to a flying start with East Coast Bluegrass crew Wire & Wool!

WIRE & WOOL- This six-strong ensemble have been carving out a name for themselves for a good few years now, impressing and enthralling crowds all over the country - including celebrated appearances at Celtic Connections among many others on the festival circuit . Their intoxicating mix of traditional bluegrass and americana with a flash of fist-pumping, shoutalong punk is tough to resist and is sure to make light work of our beloved wee room upstairs.

On the bill are new 6 piece noise imrpovs The Tardigrades , Loinstorm , Jo D'Arc - (one half of the mighty Twistettes) and spoken word from David Forrest

Get to know the inpisration behind artists songs and poems. Listen to their music and poetry then hear where each piece came from. Amazing guest artists each month. TERRA LIGHTFOOT - offers up something rare: the kind of genuine document that can only come from a road-tested breed of songwriter and performer. Shot through with the guitarist-vocalist’s powerful, bluesy soul, vivid lyrics and ferocious six-string virtuosity, it’s an unforgettable outing. From the ground-shaking stomp of “Paradise” and wild-eyed energy of “Pinball King” that open the set to the psychedelic, gospel-tinged album closer “Lonesome Eyes,” the steeltown native’s third record distills her masterful talent to its electrifying essence.

MARTHA L. HEALY - travel to Kansas City, to play and showcase at Folk Alliance - with funding assistance from Creative Scotland. Martha has just freshly returned from Nashville, where she has been co-writing her second album and playing live at the world-renowned Bluebird Cafe and The Nashville Palace, amongst other legendary venues. 2017 has already seen her play the 02 as part of Country2Country Festival, and she's looking forward to getting out on the road further over the summer months and to being a part of DoricanaFest and Glasgow Americana 2017

FOLK NIGHT

This month we have an incredible trio understandably named Nici, Sarah and Theo. Expect gorgeous laid back harmonies and beautiful songs. Fhonn are six wonderful musicians (and folk night hosts/regulars) creating a weird and wonderful blend of folk, classical and trad. Come and cheer them on as they s̶t̶u̶m̶b̶l̶e̶ breeze through their debut gig. The usual open session will follow so please bring a tune and an instrument if you're keen.
